IT'S MORE THAN "JUST A PARTY", IT'S YOUR LIFETIME OF MEMORIES
Here are some FAQ's that our clients have asked Maine Music Connection to help assist you with in finding quality entertainment.
1. If I book thru Maine Music Connection, who would be my DJ?
This is my own company and whoever books thru Maine Music Connection will have me (Larry Nise aka DJ Long Island Larry).
2. What is the price to hire a professional DJ?
The price quote depends on a few variables, how many guests, what day your event is on, the type of event. Call us and we can talk about your special day.
3. What about signing a contract?
Maine Music Connection gives all clients a copy of our entertainment contract signed by both parties. If a DJ service has no contract agreement it may lead to serious problems at your event.
4. How much of a deposit do you need to hold the date of my event?
A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 is all you need to secure the date of your event. With the balance being paid by the end of your special day.
5. What type of payment do you accept?
We accept cash, money orders and personal checks.
6. How many years have you been in business and what experience do you have?
Maine Music Connection has been around since 1994. I have over 14 years of Club/Function experience. I have done over 150 wedding receptions and more than 150 non wedding functions. I am a fulltime DJ with this being my career and not a hobby.
7. Can we see you at an event?
I am pretty sure that you would not want your DJ bringing in other possible clients to your special event, so Maine Music Connection respects your privacy and would not offer other potential clients to come to your event just to make another sale.
8. How far in advance should I book your services for my event?
Booking the right DJ for your event can be tedious. With all the different services out there I suggest you start looking for your DJ at least 1 year in advance. Once you've found a DJ you feel comfortable with, book this DJ 6 - 8 months before your event date to insure you get what you want.
9. Is set-up time included in the price?
Yes, set-up and break-down times are all inclusive with the price of the event.
10. How early will you arrive to set-up at my event?
I will arrive at least 2 hours before your event and have done the set-up and sound check at least an hour before your guests start to arrive.
11. My buddy said he could DJ my event with his I-Pod and Laptop, why should I hire a professional DJ?
Maine Music Connection are not "Weekend Warriors or Hobbiest". This is my full time career, and it is one I am proud of and enjoy. Anyone can bring an I-Pod or a Laptop to play music, but there really is alot more to it. I bring with me my expertise, thousands of song titles and professional equipment designed just for your type of event. A professional can read the crowd and tailor the music to your guests. A professional knows how to keep the party flowing at a fun pace so you don't lose half your guests in the middle of your party. These are talents you can't succeed at when you only "Practice" on weekends. Anyone can play music, but a professional DJ provides musical entertainment.
12. How will you be dressed?
A 1st time impression is key to being remembered, we at Maine Music Connection will dress to fit the event. Suits, tuxedo's and casual business attire is the norm for most events, unless otherwise advised, this will be the dress of the day.
13. What type of sound system will you use?
Only state of the art equipment will be used like: JBL, Mackie, Stanton, Numark, SKB, Sennheiser and Alesis to name a few. If your not familiar with some brand names, then your DJ could be using home stereo equipment, which usually has a 100 watt per channel capacity and a limited amount of continuous play time, while professional equipment has at least 300 watts per channel and can go all night long. I also bring back up equipment to make sure that nothing stands in the way from performing the job you hired me to do.
14. How loud will it be? I've seen some DJ's that go crazy with the volume and the bass.
I am partial to all guest as far as age goes, so I like to start with easy jazz, big band and some oldies. I do this because some guests that are up in the years may have a problem with loud thumping music from the time they get there until the time they leave. Most everyone knows that the music will get louder as the event goes on, so why should everyone be "blasted out" for the whole event.
15. Does the DJ interact with the guests?
At Maine Music Connection I do not sit in a chair all night, I know how to interact with people of all ages and backgrounds.
16. I would like to get some references?
I have the names of many customers that will say to hire nobody but Larry at Maine Music Connection. More than half of my business are from referral's, repeat clients and word of mouth. References are available upon request.
17. What type of music do you have?
My music library speaks volumes from my experience. All songs are CD quality, which is the "best" you can have. I have over 25,000 song titles to choose from and if I don't have it, I will get it. The music I have starts in the 1930's right thru to todays sounds. From swing to hip-hop, I can offer most anything you may have your mind on.
18. Will you allow music requests for my guests?
Absolutely, if a request seems inappropriate I will usually check with the Bride or Groom (Or a go-to person) first before playing it, if it is a song not to be played, I will ask the guest for a 2nd or 3rd choice.
19. How many songs can I pre-select?
With most wedding receptions and parties, we have limited amounts of time, usually between 4 - 5 hours. I suggest you give me a list of 20 "must" play songs and a list of 20 or more songs to be played if time permits. 20 songs usually equals about 2 1/2 hours of play time, add that to the formal dances and now you see why I ask for 20&20 cause time is everything. I also urge all clients to let me know the "Do not play list", so that we don't offend or play any songs that may not be suitable.
20. Should we provide a meal for the DJ?
This is your option and not required. For a normal 4-5 hour event (Including set-up and break-down time), I could be in that location for 8-9 hours. So should you decide to provide the DJ with a meal, it is warmly appreciated.
21. How much should I tip a DJ?
Tipping is not expected, but I work hard to provide you with the highest quality event possible and appreciate any show of recognition you deem appropriate. Tips typically range from 10% - 20% all the way to "WOW", you we're incredible and we'll never forget this night.
